Lawe Foundation was founded based on interest of the founders about traditional hand-woven. The artisans face the same challange, they have limitations in marketing their work, and feel unable to compete with the modern industrial fabrics. They were only able to produce hand-woven fabric sheets and scarves, there's less product diversification. Lawe creates functional products with the traditional hand-woven as the main material. This is a big opportunity for making traditional hand-woven accepted in modern market. Lawe organizes more-less 30 artisans until now. Lawe collaborate with the artisans to create and the developing the product design of traditional hand-woven. As a community of social enterprise, Lawe has social program focusing on developing the potential skill of the people who join Lawe. Lawe product design was created according to market needs and the ability of the artisans. Lawe standpoint is improvement the lives of artisans, not only the design value. Lawe gives knowledge sharing to the artisans in order to achieves the mission of conserving traditional hand-woven. Lawe Share the knowledges about color harmony, color trend based on market needs, quality improvement of producing hand-woven, and motives development. Lawe give some trainings as a from of women empowering program . Lawe gives product development training, natural dye training, to bussiness start up training . Lawe Craft Class is Lawe's latest program in empowering women. It teaches housewife and students in creating product from fabric waste, and this is free, no charge. Lawe also receives internships. Until now there are students from School of Special Education, Playen, Yogyakarta, community groups Sawahlunto, West Sumatra, practical work and thesis students from various universities.
